CIVIC EDUCATION & ENGAGEMENT

Yumbe trainee - FCA Project Beneficiary

It is very important based on what I have learnt, for me to accept all people in my home especially women to be decision makers because I have learnt from the training that if we involve women in decision making, we have a lot more development and our country will prosper.

Mawa Zacharia - Co-founder SinaLoketa Bidibidi Refugee Settlement

Through the engagements we’ve had with UMYDF, I realised there is a future. I started thinking bigger. At first, we were limiting ourselves; we refugee youths had lost our vision and all our dreams. But on getting more capacity building from initiatives brought by UMYDF, I started seeing a future. I started to establish a new home here. We are refugees here and we don’t know when we shall go back home. So, we now have to change our mindset and work hard.

Amiso Youth Leader Zone 2, Bidibidi Refugee Settlement

In those years before, I didn’t know how to express myself well before a group of people. But now with continuous UMYDF engagements, I have become more confident and better at expressing myself. I encourage UMYDF to continue  bringing  new opportunities to the refugees and the host community.
