Haji Katende Abdu is a lecturer in the Department of Religion and Peace Studies, Makerere University where he has taught for the last 35 years. He holds a B.A and M.A degrees of Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Peace Studies of Coventry University, U.K. He offers lectures in the areas of Islamic Theology, Peace Studies and Inter-religious Dialogue. He is also the Executive Director of the Centre for Inter-religious and Inter-cultural Dialogue (CIID) and the Patron of Makerere University Muslim Students’ Association (MUMSA). He is a Fulbright Fellow and a Peace Ambassador for the King Abdallah International Centre for Inter-religious and Inter-cultural Dialogue (KAICIID). He has over 30 years’ experience in the areas of Religion, Peace and Conflict Studies and has extensively written, attended, facilitated and presented at conferences and workshops in those areas. He is a member of several organizations working in the areas of Peace and Inter-religious and Inter-cultural Dialogue. He has also played an integral role in the founding of numerous Peace Clubs in secondary schools and tertiary institutions throughout Uganda. His interests include service to humanity and interacting with people of different religions and cultures. His guiding motto is “May Peace Prevail on Earth”.
